Junior Scholars Program

Grade R – (5 – 6 years)

As Junior Scholars, children in this development grade are ready to take on more advanced concepts, preparing them for the transition to primary school. Our focus includes academic readiness, social skills refinement, and instilling a sense of independence, setting the stage for success in their primary school years.

Program Objectives and Skills Development

  • Academic Preparedness: Our program aims to ensure that Junior Scholars are academically prepared for the transition to primary school by providing them with a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and other essential skills.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: We focus on developing critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities in Junior Scholars, encouraging them to approach challenges with creativity, resilience, and confidence.
  • Social and Emotional Development: We support the social and emotional development of Junior Scholars by fostering positive relationships, empathy, and self-regulation skills, equipping them with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of the social world.
  • Independence and Responsibility: We empower Junior Scholars to become independent and responsible learners by encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, manage their time effectively, and make responsible choices.
  • Facilitating opportunities for collaborative learning and teamwork to enhance cooperation and communication skills.
  • Teaching conflict resolution strategies and promoting empathy and respect for others’ opinions and perspectives.
  • Reinforcing healthy habits such as proper nutrition, regular exercise, and adequate rest to promote physical well-being.
  • Encouraging personal hygiene practices and teaching Junior Scholars to take responsibility for their own health and well-being.
  • Providing opportunities for Junior Scholars to express themselves clearly and confidently through speaking, writing, and non-verbal communication.
  • Developing language fluency and literacy skills through reading, writing, storytelling, and public speaking activities.
